Msmtp never changes the mail except for a possible deletion of the Bcc
header. It relies on the mail user agent to construct complete mails.
Some, but not all, mail transport agents (SMTP servers) add missing
headers.
Can Thunderbird and Squirrelmail be configured to add a Date header?
