[mpop-users] Explanation of the locking mechanism

I want to run mpop using cron so I need to make sure locking is working
properly so that mpop will not start a session while a previous session in
running.

Look at this:

dawn@...20...:~$ mpop -C mpoprc & mpop -C mpoprc
[1] 6382
some_user at pop.somemail.com:
no messages
mynameislight at pop.somemail.com:
no messages
dawn@...20...:~$

And this:

dawn@...20...:~$ mpop -C mpoprc

[1]+ Stopped mpop -C mpoprc
dawn@...20...:~$ ps
  PID TTY TIME CMD
 9807 pts/2 00:00:00 bash
 6490 pts/2 00:00:00 mpop
 6495 pts/2 00:00:00 ps
dawn@...20...:~$ mpop -C mpoprc
mynameislight at pop.gmail.com:
no messages
dawn@...20...:~$ bg
[1]+ mpop -C mpoprc &
dawn@...20...:~$ mynameislight at pop.gmail.com:
no messages

[1]+ Done mpop -C mpoprc
dawn@...20...:~$

it seems as though the two mpop processes are running at the same time.
